I LOVE SPRING TAG

I first saw this tag on Fleur's YouTube and as Spring is one of my favourite seasons, I thought I'd do it too!

I think that probably most people favour Summer when it comes to Seasons and if not, the other general answer is the complete opposite - Winter. Well.... Not me. I'm the awkward one who likes, what I call, the in betweens. My favourite Seasons are Spring and Autumn, and although it's a very close call between the two, Spring probably just tops it.

1. Favorite spring nail polish?

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Prickly Pear. I love purples/lilacs so fell in love with this nail polish when it first came out. It's a really pretty lilac pastel colour and looks super shiny, just like gel nails!

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?

I really like peachy and coral lipsticks for spring! At the moment I'm wearing MUA Nectar which is super cheap and a beautiful coral colour to brighten up any outfit.

3. Show us your favourite spring dress!

4. What's your favourite flower?

I've always liked Lillies but this Spring I really like daisies. They're just really simple and dainty and also look good on headbands and spring/summer accessories.

5. Favourite spring scarf/accessory?

I bought this scarf when I had a holiday in the Isle of Wight. It has dragonflies and little insects on and is a really gorgeous pink colour. I love it too because it's quite a big scarf and sometimes the really pretty chiffon scarfs are quite small and don't drape down very far when you wear it.

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? Pastels! I absoloutely love pastel colours, especially pinks, lilacs, and blues! They look lovely on just about everything and are great for Spring. Pastel nails, pastel clothes, pastel accessories... Yeh, I LIKE PASTELS!

7. Favourite spring candle?

I don't really have one to be honest. I do have a Lavender Wishing Candle though, which smells lovely. I don't usually light candles that much but if I do they're normally floral scented (rose) or sweet scents (vanilla).

8. Favourite body spray/perfume for spring?

I'm really loving the new eau de parfum for her by Lacoste - Eau De Lacoste. I tend to wear this more often when I'm going out for the night, rather than an everyday perfume though. I also found FCUK pure bodyspray which I completely forgot about until recently. It smells very floral and is a really nice, light scent to wear during the day, especially during Spring.

9. What is spring like where you live?

I live quite near a woods which looks lovely during Spring. If we go for walks or bike rides down there around this time everything seems to have more life to it. There's also a lot of birds around at the moment which we can hear nearly all the time now.

10. What's your favourite thing about spring?
Everyone begins getting that little bit happier because winter's passed. Flowers and trees blossom which makes the whole place look so much more brighter and happier too! I also like it after Fashion Week when all the new Spring/Summer trends are coming out and everyone gets excited over them - Spring clothes are so pretty. My top fave Spring thing (that sounded good!) has definitely got to be anything to do with florals though!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
I leave that to Mum, although I will sometimes de-clutter and organise my make-up (just so I can say I've done something too!).

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation? Spring break with all my revision? You must be joking! I never go away in Spring, my family and I tend to go away for a week in the Summer which we'll more than likely do this year.

Poundland Purchases

Whilst in Poundland....

Usually I stay well clear of Poundland Make-up and beauty products but whilst browsing the store with my family I spotted a few Rimmel products and couldn't continue to walk past as I have done before. After my first thought being "What's wrong with it?" and looking through the few Rimmel items on display I picked up 4 different Rimmel products - a concealer, eyeshadow, lipstick, and nail varnish.

The first Rimmel product I picked up was a Moisture Renew Lipstick which usually retail for £6.29 in boots and superdrug. Within the last few weeks I've visited 2 different poundland stores and in both, the only lipstick shade available was Mocha Cream which is a brown (at this point I found out why this lipstick was in poundland). I personally HATE brown lipsticks. Why would I want to be walking around looking like I've very messily eaten a bar of chocolate and forgotten to wipe my mouth? No thanks. I do agree some brown shades are bareable and very subtle but after giving this shade a chance and 'trying something new' my opinion still hasn't changed. But with this in mind I still picked it up anyway just to try the product itself rather than the colour that I detest and will give to my Mum who, for some reason, likes a brown lipstick (I think it reminds her of "the good old days"). The lipstick itself was very pigmented which definitely made the colour bolder. Rimmel sell many other shades of this lipstick, mostly pinks and reds, which are definitely easier colours to wear (I'll be picking some of these shades up). Application was brilliant and very easy, and being someone who frequently has dry lips this was such a nice lipstick to overall apply. I found it very moisturising on application and after I took it off. Even though it was Mocha Cream I am pleased I picked it up to give it a try because I love the formula and for a saving of £5.29 you can't go wrong!

Another Rimmel product which I only found in one of the Poundland stores was a Cream Eyeshadow. Again they only had one shade but luckily I liked it and is a colour I would wear. It is a gold shimmery shade and works well as an inner corner or brow bone highlighter. If you don't have much time some mornings I think it also works well just as a quick all over colour.

I prefer liquid concealers and normally only use them, but when I saw the Rimmel Stay Matte Concealer in Poundland I picked it up.Again they only had one shade available but luckily the colour was fine on my skin and worked well with my foundation. The concealer stick itself has a very smooth application but is not amazing at covering dark circles under eyes. It is however, very good at covering blemishes and blending over top of them. The green core is made to treat blemishes but I'm yet to find out if it does its job. It doesn't beat my Collection 2000 liquid concealer though, but for a £1 it's pretty good!

After seeing many blog posts about the NEW Radox Shower Gels I had to pick one up in Poundland when I noticed a few on the bottom shelf. The cherry one smelt lovely too and now when I think about it, I'm not sure why I didn't pick it up too but I only picked up the coconut one. The shower Gel smells very strongly of coconut which smells AMAZING! It's very tropical and fruity and smells as if it's a good wake me up, refreshing shower gel to use. Can you tell I love coconut?

Next I picked up a pack of pastel coloured false nails. With three shades of pretty pastels and it being Spring and all I couldn't not pick them up. The shades were just too cute to leave behind and I know these will get used very quickly this season and will compliment everyday spring outfits.

I also purchased a Rimmel French Manicure Nail Polish in the shade Rose Praline (number 44). On the bottle it says it lasts up to 10 days of wear but It won't take me 10 days before I get bored of my nails and change them. It's a very pale pink shade with silver shimmer through it and looks beautiful on a natural French manicure.

Usually I don't bother with my nails because when I do it's very time consuming. But, recently I've been putting a lot of extra effort in when it comes to my nails and for when I don't have this time to do my nails I bought up a pack of 20 Blue and White Polka Dot Nail Wraps. I can say that I have never before bought or tried nail wraps on my own nails and have previously found it hard to find some that I like the design/pattern of, so when I saw these polka dot ones and instantly fell in love with them, I quickly picked them up. They're really simple but the colours are so pretty and will look great during Spring and Summer.

Sorry that this was a long'un! I hardly ever buy anything from Poundland but on the last two visits was very impressed with their stock. I'm sure the Rimmel products won't be in Poundland for long so if you want them visit your local poundland ASAP!

Cancer research Race for Life - IT'S OUR TURN

Race for Life 2012

Last year my family and I took part in Race for Life in order to do our bit for Cancer Research UK. It was our first but definitely not our last time taking part and I am so glad I began contributing to such a heart felt and close cause. I was lucky enough for an event to be held very close to where I live last year and was able to take part at Worthing Seafront as I am this year once again.

As we were new to the whole experience, neither myself or my family could even guess what it would be like on the day, so when we arrived at the event every single one of us were overwhelmed with the event as a whole. The atmosphere we were surrounded in was overwhelming and every person taking part had a personal reason for their contribution which we were able to see from their personal and inspirational messages worn upon their backs. I was only 6 when my Gran died and being unable to get to know her, it's an honour to try and stop the same thing from happening again and again to people just like you and me. There were definitely no hidden secrets when it came to people's stories and we all took part as one; a group of women wanting the same thing - for everyone to walk, run, or jog in the future with the words "we beat it" pinned to our backs.

Race for Life is a fundraising event set up by Cancer Research and partnered with Tesco in which women take part in a race, either by walking, jogging or running, after gaining sponsors and trying to raise money to fund research and medical treatment (don't worry if you don't reach your target girls, the smallest amount makes a difference). Participants may have cancer, have lost someone to cancer, beaten cancer or may have no personal link at all to "the big C". Anyone is welcome to take part and the more people that do, the stronger the fight we have. An astonishing £51 million was raised last year alone because of Race for Life and this year I'm sure we can beat it!

2013 is the year that Race for Life is getting serious. It's time to stand face to face with cancer and fight it. As Cancer Research have said themselves "It's time to hit cancer where it hurts." This year it's all about standing up, toughening up and facing up to cancer (no fists are needed on race day though thank you).

In my eyes and I'm certain everyone else's, every woman who takes part is an inspiration, whatever reason they have behind their participation. Whether you've been affected or not I strongly recommend any woman who can takes part in any way at all. The pride shown on people's faces crossing the finishing line is without a doubt a chance you shouldn't miss, even if it is just once.
